Christened as Simon, Spike originally took offense when his 'funny friend' Ken The Kookaburra gave him his prickly nickname. This was, of course, until the day he realised the irony. You see as far as ‘spikes’ go Spike doesn’t make a very good echidna... His hair is the smoothest & softest in all of Australia.

Hazel is a talented gymnast with a giggly, infectious personality—she can inspire even the most reluctant person to let go of their worries & cartwheel in the daisy fields with her. Hazel can’t help being so much fun & she is almost always seen in tandem with her bestie, the brilliant jam-maker Clementine. The two gals love to match cute outfits & go on adventures around their neighbouring farms in the magical Victorian Otways. Clem can be a little bossy sometimes so Hazel has to put her foot down to make sure she also gets a say in their games & projects. But the two are as close as sisters & are always looking for ways to make the other shine her very brightest!

Clementine just adores slipping into her favourite frock & floral headband & going for picnics with her BFF Hazel. They love to coordinate their outfits, pick wild blackberries, feed carrots to all the local horses & do cartwheels in the grassy paddocks. These two giggling girls grew up on neighbouring farms near Apollo Bay & they have always loved the great outdoors. On weekends, they make lemonade & raspberry-rhubarb jam & set up a stall outside Clem’s house. It’s very popular with the locals! Hazel tells Clem off when she gets too bossy & Clem brings Hazel back down to earth when she is daydreaming. But despite their differences, the two are inseparable.

Craig the Crayfish lives in a snug little nook under a wobbly driftwood table, where something lovely is always about to happen. Clawdia the Crab does things her own way & that’s exactly how she likes it. While others hurry straight ahead, Clawdia prefers a sideways shuffle, because it means she never misses a thing. She’s a natural chatterbox, always in the middle of a story, a question, or a giggle. Clawdia loves collecting little bits and bobs from the ocean floor, pretty shells, swirly stones, and anything that sparkles just enough to catch her eye. If you ever spot Clawdia, she’s probably on her way to see a friend, ready for a long, lively chat. 

Paulo the Penguin is an early riser who loves the quiet magic of the ocean just before the day begins. While most of the sea is still snoozing, Paulo is already off on a gentle adventure, gliding through the water and watching the light dance above him. He’s a wonderful wanderer, happiest when he’s exploring somewhere new, whether it’s a hidden cove, a patch of sparkling sea, or a place he’s almost sure he’s been before. 

Baby Thomas the Triceratops is a clever, curious dinosaur who is always sticking his horns into places he shouldn’t. He may be highly gifted when it comes to STEM subjects, but he is forever conducting dangerous experiments in the schoolyard at Prehistoric Primary that tend to involve lightning, dead spiders, Baby Stu the Stegosaurus wild mushroom collection, & Bunsen burners. What could possibly go wrong?

Baby Stu the Stegosaurus may be shy, but boy, does he have energy to burn! His dad Stu the stegosaurus calls him ‘The Energizer Dino’ because he is always ready for action & moves lightning-fast for a stegosaurus (they are known to be plodders). Like a true herbivore, mushrooms are Baby Stu’s favourite food & he especially loves them piled on a pizza with rosemary & thyme. Baby Stu’s sensible friend baby sadie the dino accompanies Stu on his weekly mushroom forages to help him identify the non-poisonous ones.

Ginger is a fluffy orange kitten with a big love for marmalade. If someone leaves a jar open, uh-oh! She’ll tiptoe over & sneak a tiny lick with her pink tongue. Shhh… don’t tell her humans! Her favourite spot? A sunny patch on the carpet, where she curls up like a little cinnamon roll & dreams the day away. 

A literature fan, Poppy's favourite book is 'Animal Farm' but by no means does she identify with the characters. When not snout-deep in a book, Poppy likes going to her local market, staying home, and eating roast beef (she despises when there is none). But it's her French language skills that has Poppy saying, 'oui, oui, oui, oui' all the home and into the arms of a loving child.

Baby Sadie the Dino is the gorgeously soft & prudent daughter of Sadie the Dinosaur. Baby Sadie is tactile & tactful, working hard to keep her Prehistoric Primary schoolmates out of mischief (namely mushroom-gobbling Baby Stu the Stegosaurus & over-enthusiastic scientist Baby Thomas the Triceratops).
